The Journey of The World’s First Surviving Septuplets

Surviving Septuplets Miracle

The McCaughey family lived in Des Moines, lowa. Despite Bobbi McCaughey’s malfunctioning pituitary gland, she was able to give birth to her first child Mikayla Marie in 1996. The couple decided that they wanted more children, so she had treatments to improve her hormone production. Months later, Bobbi became pregnant, and the doctors found that she was carrying seven children!
Bobbi gave birth to seven wonderful babies on November 19, 1997. The septuplets are the first set of Surviving Septuplets. As they were born prematurely, two of the babies have cerebral palsy. Their birth caused a media frenzy, and they made appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show and in Time Magazine. They also received scholarships, a house and lots of donations.
